Full professor of industrial design at the IUAV University of Venice. He is president of the SID (Italian Design Society), director of the master’s degree course in Product Design and Visual Communication of the IUAV University of Venice and member of MED (a university network on medical design topics including the following institutes: Vignelli Centre for Design Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology, Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design – United Kingdom, Sheffield Hallam University – United Kingdom, Israel Institute of Technology, Technion).
From 2008 to 2012 he was dean of the Faculty of Design and Arts of the IUAV University of Venice.
He has taught at the Polytechnic of Milan, at the Hochschule für Gestaltung of Schwäbisch Gmünd and at the Polytechnic of Turin. He is International Fellow of the Society for the Science of Design Studies Japan.
He has published monographs and essays in Italy and abroad, such as: Ambiente gestione e strategia, Milan 1997, Cultura sociale del prodotto. Nuove frontiere per il disegno industriale, Milan 1999
He is responsible of the laboratory for the planning of industrial artefacts in the clasDIP and of the industrial design 1st year laboratory of the claDIS.
His research areas mainly refer to product and process innovation, product environmental quality and medical design.
